UN Volunteers launches partnership with World Food Programme

12 Feb 2007 – The World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme have a new partnership agreement that commits each organization to support each other’s field activities in celebrating IVD and Walk the World against Hunger. Read more

6 Feb 2007 – UN Volunteers HQ staff welcomed to Bonn on 1 February, Mr. Ad Melkert, Associate Administrator of United Nations Development Program (UNDP). UNV is administered by UNDP and falls within the Associate Administrator’s portfolio of responsibilities. In the spirit of UN reform Melkert stressed the importance of the continued close working relationship between UNDP and UN Volunteers. Read more

2 Feb 2007 – HIV/AIDS is a growing problem in Ukraine. It’s estimated that 1.4% of the adult population is HIV positive. The Czech Republic has supported the deployment of Czech nationals as UNV volunteers over the last three years to help fight the epidemic in Ukraine.

UN Chronicle features volunteerism

In its latest issue, the UN Chronicle, a magazine for information about and debate around the United Nations System, published four pieces on volunteerism.
